Susan Scharton
Lecturer in Teacher Education/Supervisor of
Student Teaching
Susan
Scharton received a B.A. in Sociology and her
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
from UCSD in 1980; she received her M.A. degree
in Curriculum Design at UCSD in 2001 and completed
her EdD in Teaching in Learning in 2007. Susan
was a classroom teacher for 20 years
and taught
grades 1-6. She has been a mentor teacher and
a language resource teacher; in addition, she
is a math consultant for Marilyn Burns Education
Associates. Susan
has participated in the Writing, Literature,
and Mathematics Subject Matter Projects.
Susan
enjoys writing about teaching in general and
mathematics teaching and learning in
particular. Her book, Teaching Number Sense,
was published
in the fall 2005. Susan teaches for the
PAL program; she teaches language arts methods
to the elementary
credential candidates and supevises elementary
credential candidates. In
her free time, Susan enjoys writing, knitting,
cooking, and
hanging
out with her husband and dogs. |
