Lecturer/Supervisor of Elementary and Bilingual Education
Elizabeth Pappas earned her B.A in Liberal Studies and BCLAD Spanish with additional authorization in English at San Diego State University. She was a biliteracy classroom teacher and Language Arts Specialist in grades K-6 for 13 years in National School District. Elizabeth joined Education Studies as a Supervisor of elementary credential candidates in 2008 and continues in that role. In addition, Elizabeth teaches the Teaching the English Language Learner class at EDS. She is an
English Learner Resource Teacher with the Office of Language Acquisition in San Diego Unified. Her work focuses on teacher professional development related to designing quality interactions for English learners and building successful biliteracy and immersion programs. Elizabeth is grounded in Appreciative Inquiry and is passionate about education that invites learners in and engages them in intellectual challenge with high support. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her two daughters, husband and dog. She loves hiking, walking, baking cookies, reading and writing.
