Teaching and Learning Graduate Programs

Ed.D. students The Education Studies Department at the University of California, San Diego offers:

a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Teaching and Learning
                  and
a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching and Learning: Research in Curriculum Design.

These cohort-based programs are designed to enable professional educators to participate in research-based graduate education while continuing to work in educational settings.

Education Studies at UCSD is grounded in a commitment to equitable and excellent education for all students by preparing teacher innovators who can respond to the changing needs of teachers, students, and the community. More equitable education requires fundamental changes in approaches to teaching and learning within the context of larger scale reform efforts. In these two graduate programs, students systematically research and reinvent educational practices.

These research-based Ed.D. and M.A. programs provide research perspectives on educational reform, with the expectation of developing expertise for K-12 and post-secondary teaching and learning. With its rich tradition of research and technological innovation, UCSD is uniquely positioned to provide research and financial support for graduate studies in education.

A good way to see the value of these programs is to look at the Doctoral dissertations and the Masters theses produced by graduates of the Teaching and Learning graduate programs.
