IMPORTANT FAFSA INFORMATION:

You must re-apply for financial aid every year by submitting the electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Please note: UCSD’s Title IV School Code is 001317. When filing your electronic FAFSA, keep in mind the following:

• If this is NOT your first time completing an electronic FAFSA and you have forgotten your PIN please click on the I Forgot/Don’t Know My PIN option shown in the electronic FAFSA process.
• To help you complete your electronic FAFSA, a worksheet is available in the financial aid office or can be downloaded at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/fotw1213/pdf/fafsaws13c.pdf
• You do not need to complete your 2011 tax return or wait for W-2s to file your electronic FAFSA. Estimate the amounts and then make corrections to your Student Aid Report (name of the report after a FAFSA is processed) once your tax returns are filed.
• Students applying to the M.Ed, M.A./ASL, M.A./CD, or Ed.D programs are considered to be at a Graduate/Professional grade level and seeking to complete a Graduate/Professional degree. Make sure to choose the correct option when completing the “Student Eligibility” section of the electronic FAFSA.
• If you do not receive an email or notice from the Department of Education processor two weeks after you have filed your electronic FAFSA, follow up with the processor regarding the receipt of your electronic application. The processor can be reached at 1-800-4FED AID (1-800-433-3243).
If you are an incoming M.Ed, M.A./ASL, M.A./CD, or EdD program applicant you must include your social security number in your admissions application. This is the only way the electronic FAFSA information can be loaded into UCSD’s financial aid system.
